The Miami Curve continued to prove itself worthy of being nationally ranked by the esteemed travelballselect by winning the USSSA Wood Bat World Series Championship which had a very competitive field which included other travelballselect nationally ranked teams, Broward Red Dogs, Miramar Canes and Cooperstown week 7 champions Boca Wolverines.

The Miami Curve are the 2008 USSSA Wood bat World Series Champions despite entering the championship rounds seeded #9 after losing the first two pool games by scores of 2-1 and 3-2.

In elimination games, the Curve went 4-0, including a revenge game against the # 1 seeded, Miramar Canes, beating them 2-0.  In bracket play the Curve trounced # 8 seeded Broward Scorpions/Tsunami, 7-2, (Travelballselect ranked team Tsunami was also in the tournament as they have recently merged with the Scorpions and were listed as the Scorpions in this tourney), # 1 seeded Miramar Canes, 2-0, #6 seeded, Miami Suns, 4-1 and then won the championship against the Miami Cyclones by run rule and a score of 11-0 in four innings.

Though the wood bat offered many new challenges, the hitting and pitching and awesome defense proved too much for their opponents.  The Miami Curve pitching staff ERA in the 6 games of the tournament was an amazing 1.71.  The team batting average was .358.

The defense was excellent as the infield turned several timely double plays and the outfield also contributed several timely outfield putouts.

The pitching staff is composed of Alex Perez, Gabriel Marin, Tito Torres, Luis Barronco and Jack Diaz.

Several key hits and RBI"S by Nick Canino, Alex Perez, Michael Cabezas, Bryan Carreras, Gabriel Marin, Justin Blair, Jack Diaz, Tito Torres, Francis Miyares, Franky Smith and Ivan Botero and Luis Barronco contributed defensively.

Jack Diaz was named MVP by the tournament officials after throwing a shutout in the championship game.

The Coaching staff composed of Don Blair, Miguel Cabezas and Mandy Canino are extremely proud of the team.
